I prefer strong female characters. Especially in family programming, since children need good, but believable role models. Women who are assertive, tough, and intelligent. Capable of competing with men, but still in touch which their nurturing, sensitive femininity. And they do it without being slutty, dishonest, or annoying. We don't get enough of that in children's programming this nowadays. Little girls are now encouraged to be annoying and materialistic.
A few examples of strong female characters I admire: Princess Sally, Julie-Su, Bunnie Rabbot (Sonic) Ripley (Aliens) Hermione, Ginny, Prof. McGonagall (Harry Potter) Sandy (Spongebob) Scarlett and Lady Jaye (GI Joe) Eowyn (LOTR) Pepper Potts (Iron Man) Princess Leia, Padme (Star Wars) Violet (Ultraviolet) Rebecca and Myra (Talespin) The female cop who shoots the skinhead (Miami Vice) The Bride (Kill Bill) Zoe, Abernathy, and Kim (Death Proof) By the way, I know most of the stuff I put here is from action movies and cartoons. |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
