My favorite video games.

1. Super Smash Bros. (N64)/Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)
This is the ultimate party game and the only fighting game I like at all. I love the flexibility and variety this game offers as well as the control. It's straightforward but at the same time can be unpredictable and intense. The N64 version is sublime in its relative simplicity, and actually has a more visceral feel than the sequels due to the sound effects (I prefer the loud cracks to the mild thumping sounds in the sequels). I don't particularly care for the LameCube version, but I love the features added by Brawl, like the Stage Builder (and Sonic!).

2. GoldenEye/Perfect Dark (N64)
Where would we be without GoldenEye? The contribution it made to FPS's is incalculable, and it was the game that proved how drastically distinctive an FPS can be and that it was great genre for multiplayer gaming. I'm tiring of trendy people saying junk like, "It was great when it came out, but now it's kinda crappy." Bullshit. What was awesome then is awesome now, and GoldenEye still rules.
It's spiritual successor Perfect Dark (pretty much the same game with bells and whistles) is also great.

3. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
The people say this is the best sidescroller ever, and I am with them.

4. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis)
The Sonic game I grew up with, and the one I feel the most nostalgic for. Great map design, music, gameplay and a good cyberpunk atmosphere at times. Sonic 3 is also very good.

5. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
Incredibly inventive, but still classic feeling. Proof that Miyamoto has not lost his touch. A refreshing game for this day and age.

6. Super Mario Kart 64 (N64)
The perfect multiplayer racing game. The Wii version is good too, but it just doesn't quite have that simple, straightforward quality that really lets you feel the competition between yourself and your friend.

7. Yoshi's Island (SNES)
Great gameplay. I love the crayon-like graphics and the game has just the right amount of cuteness, unlike the sickeningly saccharine Yoshi's Story.

8. TECMO Superbowl (NES/Genesis)
I usually don't like football video games, but I love this one (I think the sidescroller format helps). A classic.

9. FIFA '95 (Genesis)
Although I'm not a sports video game fan, I do enjoy soccer games and this is my favorite. The diagonal view is distinctive, and the best part is you can punch people in it.

10. Sly Cooper (PS2)
Great visual style and great control. A refreshingly classic-feeling platformer. I hope they make another one for PS3.

Some honorable mentions:
New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)
Batman (NES)
Super Metroid
Metroid Prime 1-2
Castlevania
Empire Strikes Back (NES)
TIE Fighter (PC)
Starfox 64
Ninja Gaiden 2 (NES)
Timesplitters 2 (GameCube, PS2, XBOX)
MegaMan (NES
